Katie started working in the pet industry in 1990 at a local pet supplies store in St. Catharines while finishing her psychology degree from the University of Guelph. After managing stores and owning her own franchise store for several years she made the switch to sales representative in 1999. In 2003 she was asked by RC Pets to sell their products as an independent rep while also doing some contract work. The full time contract ended when her daughter arrived.
After speaking to a few manufacturers and suppliers she decided (they convinced her) to keep things going by representing their products along with RC Pets. Working as an independent gave her the scheduling freedom to parent while still working at something she loved…so Katie’s Petgoods was born.
